Back to School: Quarantine Edition

Go back to classes during pandemic?

I think many of us weren’t prepared to terms like pandemic, isolation, home office, on-line school, face masks, well you get my point. And specially going back to school during the quarantine. But in many places in the world things are getting better or worse.

Whether in your country or city things are looking better, businesses are re-opening, people are going out or the contrary the pandemic crisis is getting worse and you’ve got to be more isolated that ever, there’s a bunch of changes that as a society we have to accept and are here to stay.

One of those changes is school. In my case, I start my degree in July, and even though in my city things are getting better, there’s still a lot of caution going on.

The government is asking for businesses to follow very strict norms, and that includes schools.

In my university we’ll have two ways of going to school, some days will be on campus and other on line.

So, whatever your school is doing, here are some piece of advice for both cases so you can feel safe and be able to concentrate and work things out the best way possible.

On-Line Classes

Develop a routine

You’ll probably have a schedule for your classes, which will make things easier for you to organize, but if that’s not the case or you have to do your work or homework in your own time, I highly recommend to stick to a schedule for school work.

If you can do this in the morning, it’s better because that way you’ll have the rest of the day for you to do whatever you want, and rest.

Set a working space

Have your laptop ready, with all your school books and accessories too. That way you’ll just need to grab a cup of coffee and sit down. I always put my coffee machine in the morning, that makes me wake up in the best mood and have coffee for the hole day.

Keep a calendar

I know we all have our cellphones with all our life written in there, but if you are like me, a more visual person having a printed calendar or a blackboard, use it! That way you’ll never forget your due dates or reminders.

Make a daily to-do list

This will help you prioritize what you have to do each day. Try to stick to your daily goals. And you can make a short and long-term goals too. Take a moment every week to check them out and continue working on them.

Take a break

Being home working for a long time can be very stressful, so taking short breaks will help you not to get overwhelmed.

If you are into yoga you can make a 10-minute stretch routine (add routine). If you have dogs, it is the perfect time to give them a stroll or play with them.

Take a walk, call your mom of a friend, meditate or read 10 pages of a book.

Just stay away from social media! If you are like me, I can spend hours on social media without even noticing.

On Campus Classes

Even though things are getting better I still feel it’s our responsibility to keep one and others safe.

Wear a face mask

Wearing a face mask doesn’t have to be boring. You can find a lot of different designs that can motivate you to wear it. This brand ( DRYME) is one of my favorites, because I can either wear it alone, but it’s big enough to wear it over a more sophisticated face mask too.

Hand sanitizer

Don’t forget to bring your hand sanitizer, you can get those little cute bottles almost in every drug store. They even have a clip so you can attach it to your bag, and they smell so good.

Wash your hands

Whenever you can remember to wash your hands with soap, the hand sanitizer is just an extra, but the real important thing is the personal hygiene.

Don’t share for now

Try not to share your personal belongings for now. I know it sucks, but we have to take care for each other, and that means being responsible for your own things too.

Bring your own pen, pencil, laptop, etc. Try to keep your things clean. And once you get home, clean them again.

Bring your own meals

That will save your health and budget too. That way you just focus on going to school, and back home safe and sound.

Just remember, going back to school during quarantine could help you out with al the stress we’ve been living during this pandemic, so be positive and try to get the best out of this.
