Who has not heard about Tulum? If you have not visited this spectacular city yet, I leave you this 3-day itinerary so that you can enjoy Tulum to the fullest.

Tulum is a small coastal town located in the state of Quintana Roo in Mexico. It was originally called Zama, which means “dawn” in the Mayan language, but was later renamed Tulum, which means “wall” in the same language, due to the ancient Mayan ruins that are a major attraction in the area.

The ancient Mayan city of Tulum was built on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and was a major trading hub in the region during the 13th to 15th centuries.

Today, visitors can explore the well-preserved ruins, including the Temple of the Frescos and the Castillo, which offer stunning views of the turquoise waters below.

In the 20th century, Tulum was a small fishing village, but it has since grown into a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and laid-back atmosphere.

The town is also home to a thriving eco-tourism industry, with many visitors coming to explore the nearby Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a protected area that is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna.

Transportation: The best way to get around Tulum is by renting a bicycle or scooter. Alternatively, taxis and colectivos (shared minivans) are also available.

 

Useful tips: Bring sunscreen, a hat, and insect repellent. Wear comfortable shoes for walking around the archaeological site.

 

Day 2:

 

Morning:

 

Visit the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve – a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to various species of birds, mammals, and marine life. Estimated time: 3-4 hours. Cost: 1,500 MXN (~75 USD) for a guided tour.

Afternoon:
