3 Must-know things before moving to Vancouver

Moving to Canada?

Assuming that you already have practically everything ready to move to Canada, specifically to the city of Vancouver, be sure to review these 3 Must-know things before moving to Vancouver.

3 Important points that you should know before arriving in Canada:

How to find work

If you have already looked for work, surely you have noticed that they ask you for your “Resume” and a “cover letter” almost always. We are used to sending the popular CV, but here things are a little different. The “Resume” is equivalent to the CV but it is more concise and should not be more than 2 pages long, and attached to this, each company should receive a “cover letter” which is a maximum one-page letter where you state why you would like to work in that company and because you think you are the ideal candidate for that position. I recommend that you always send a cover letter even if the company does not specify it, in my experience they take this step into account in the hiring process.

These are some links that I recommend to look for work: LinkedIn, Indeed and Craigslist.

Taxes

Taxes in Canada are quite high compared to other countries.
Approximately 40% almost half of your salary.

In Canada, all family members who generate income must file their own return, and it can be filed no later than April 30. The amount payable increases and depends on the income each person receives, for example, a person who earns $40,000 or less, is in the lowest income bracket, and must pay 20% in taxes. This figure increases or decreases based on monthly income and depending on the province where you live. But the truth is that they are reflected in the quality of life in the city.

Health insurance

First things first, you have to get your MSP (Medical Service Plan) tap on the link to see if you’re eligible.

Things to take into account: It does not cover medicines
They take a long time to give you an appointment.
You cannot see a specialist afterwards, first you have to make an appointment with a general doctor (Family doctor) and that one already refers you to another doctor, so sometimes the processes usually take a long time.

Finding a Family Doctor is quite complicated. If it is something very urgent, they give you priority, but it has to be a case of life or death. If not, chances are that no matter how often you call an ambulance, it will never arrive.

And doctors might look like they are in a rush all the time, so if you have an appointment you have to be very concise and tell your problem in 15 minutes top.
