10 Things to do in Vancouver [2023]

Must see places in Van City, Canada.

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, you can have all the perks of a big city without sacrificing it’s natural areas and parks, here you’ll find 10 things to do in this city.

10 Things to do in Vancouver:

Capilano Suspension Bridge:

capilano suspension bridge

One of my favorite places, located in North Vancouver. This park is full of beautiful sceneries, not only the famous bridge crossing the Capilano river, that include cliff walks, tree tops bridges and a glimpse of First Nation’s history. And don’t forget the nigh lights!

It’s only 15 minutes from downtown and could take you from 2 to 3 hours to enjoy the hole park.

Check all the information out on their website.

Stanley Park

One of the largest green spaces in Vancouver, the perfect place to go for a ride, rent a bike, roller skate or just walk around the sea wall.

It’s in the north side of Vancouver’s downtown. This park is huge and stunning, I highly suggest to have a picnic in there, although you can find some restaurants and cafes too.

Grouse Mountain

This is such a fun place! It’s great for the whole family, but even if you don’t have any kids (like me) I had an amazing time.

Grouse Mountain

This is the closest mountain to the city, is just 20 minutes away from downtown.

There’s this skyline to the Alpine Station where you can choose from 26 different ski runs. Or just enjoy the view like I did.

You can find other attractions in Grouse Mountain like the brown bears, the birds show and so much more.

Granville Island

Granville Island

This is a must stop for any tourist. It a very colorful market with a very cool vibe. Perfect to get something to eat and just enjoy the day for a while.

You can go inside the public market and eat in the terrace (just look out for the seagulls, they like to steal food from you) or just look for a nice restaurant in the area.

I’m in love with Edible Canada, such a cozy restaurant. I love the sweet Poutin as dessert! You’ll love it.

Granville Island is great to shop souvenirs, go to one of the plays in the theatre and take the ferry that crosses False Creek.

Chinese Garden (Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden)

Vancouver’s China Town is one of the largest in the country. No wonder why this beautiful garden is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city.

If you want to get a very close idea of how the gardens in China look like, you definitely have to visit Dr. Sun Yan-Set Classical Chinese Garden. This beautiful place is inspired by the Ming Dynasty.

English Bay

The best place to watch the sunset. English Bay is also known as First Beach and is a very popular beach where a lot of people hang out. In the summer you can play volleyball, grab your bikini and get a tan or just chill in the beach.

You can take a walk in the park sea wall and then grab a glass of wine in one of the restaurants around.

My favorite one is Cactus Café that has one of the most beautiful views from the beach

Sunset Beach

amazing sunset

If you walk from English Bay towards the Burrard Bridge you’ll encounter this area which has, for me, the most beautiful sunsets, plus there’s always tons of people playing beach volleyball, skating or just chilling at the beach.

Gastown

Gastown

The coolest neighborhood in Vancouver! This place is one of the oldest areas in the city and it’s full of cafes, bars and restaurants.

This place is super trendy with tons of shops, boutiques and pretty old Victorian houses.

You are gonna love it, don’t miss the steam clock which puffs steam-powered chimes every 15 minutes.

PS: Just stay away from Hastings Street that is very close to the area. One of the most problematic and not so pretty areas in Vancouver.

Gastown is a very short walk from my next recommendation, Canada Place.

Canada Place

Part cruise ship terminal, part hotel, and part hub for sightseeing bus tours and home to the Vancouver’s Convention Centre. The building has a very unique architecture. A must see at least to hang around for a while.

Lynn Canyon Park

Lynn Canyon

If you want a less crowded and touristic place, and budget friendly this is the place. Not only you get to have a very nice hike, but there’s a smaller but pretty cool suspension bridge.

You can hike the Baden Powell Trail leading to the Twinn Falls.  It’s beautiful.

Museum of Anthropology

First Nations history is the principal thing you’ll get to see in this museum. Native art, archaeological and ethnographic objects from different parts of the world too.

The building was originally part of a WWII era fort, now transformed into this beautiful museum.
